Stay-on-Track Program

High potassium can cause serious health issues, such as irregular heartbeat and other heart problems. That's why it's important to stay on top of your treatment every day as your doctor has ordered. The Stay-on-Track program from VELTASSA can help you do just that.

Once a month, you'll receive a newsletter in the mail that provides you with ongoing support in the form of:

  • Reminders about taking your medicine as prescribed

Am I eligible for financial assistance?
Yes, you may be.* If you have commercial health insurance, you may qualify for a $25 co-pay program that could reduce your co-pay to no more than $25 a month.

If you have commercial or governmental insurance (such as Medicare or Medicaid), you may be able to receive financial support from independent, third-party organizations to help pay for VELTASSA.

If I do not have insurance coverage, can I still receive financial assistance?
If you do not have insurance or do not have enough insurance coverage and meet financial criteria, you may qualify for free VELTASSA. Call 1-844-870-7597. If you are a patient currently taking VELTASSA and would like more information about VELTASSA, please call 1-844-870-7597.

Who should not take Veltassa?

Do not take Veltassa if you are allergic to patiromer sorbitex calcium or any of the ingredients in Veltassa.

What should I tell my doctor before taking Veltassa?

Before you take Veltassa, tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including if you:

  • have problems having a bowel movement, including if you have severe constipation, a blockage (obstruction) in your bowel, or dry hard stool that will not pass out of your rectum (impaction)

  • have problems with your bowels after bowel surgery

Know the medicines you take. Keep a list of them to show your doctor and pharmacist when you get a new medicine.

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements.

What are the possible side effects of Veltassa?

Veltassa may cause serious side effects, including:

  • Low levels of magnesium in your blood (hypomagnesemia). Low levels of magnesium in the blood can happen when taking Veltassa. Your doctor will check the magnesium levels in your blood during treatment with Veltassa and may prescribe a magnesium supplement.

The most common side effects of Veltassa include: constipation, diarrhea, nausea, stomach-area (abdominal) discomfort, and gas.

Tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or does not go away.

Do not take Veltassa for a condition for which it was not prescribed. Do not give Veltassa to other people, even if they have the same symptoms that you have. It may harm them. You can ask your doctor or pharmacist for information about Veltassa that is written for health professionals.

Important Program Terms & Conditions

Co-pay Program*
By participating in the $25 Co-pay Program (“Co-pay Program”) for VELTASSA, the patient acknowledges that at the time of usage, they currently are enrolled in VELTASSA K+onnect, meet the eligibility criteria, and comply with the following terms and conditions.

The Co-pay Program is for commercially insured patients. Patients with prescription coverage through any type of federal or state government funded program are not eligible (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, Veterans Administration [VA], Mi Salud).

The patient is responsible for $25 or the full amount of their co-pay per prescription fill, whichever is less, up to a 12 month period and afterwards renewal is required. The Co-pay Program for VELTASSA is not insurance. Relypsa, Inc. reserves the right to rescind, revoke, or amend this program without notice. The patient must use the Co-pay Program for a valid prescription of VELTASSA, and this cannot be combined with any other coupon, trial, savings card, free drug assistance, or other offer.

Patient must live in the United States (including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands). Patient is required to promptly inform VELTASSA K+onnect of any change in insurance status during the course of enrollment.

The patient and participating pharmacy are each obligated to inform the insurance plan of any benefit received under the Co-pay Program as required, and may not participate if the Co-pay Program conflicts with the plan’s policy. No party may seek reimbursement for any part of the benefit received by patient under the Co-pay Program. Limit one per person, offer is non-transferable, and void where prohibited by law, taxed, or restricted.
